Last night at 22h15’38” (03h15’38’’ UTC+1), the 1963 Italian ketch Coch y Bondhu, skippered by Paolo Zangheri, crossed the line of the Panerai Transat Classique 2019, in front of Christophe Harbour and wins the 3rd place on real time. He is ahead of Hilaria, design by Stephens in 1966, skippered by Philippe Thurneyssen that crossed the line ate à 22h58’40’’ (03h58’40’’ UTC+1), on forth position. But the fight was intense. Only 40 minutes of time difference after more than 18 jours of race and 2800 miles. According to the popular saying: “the tension was palpable”. Both crews received a warm welcome for all crews who arrived earlier in the marina, and from Charles « Buddy » Darby, founder of Christophe Harbour who also came to salute Stiren earlier in the day. After berthing and openning the champagne with a sabre, the happy sailors ready to party, rediscover the taste for earthly thanks to the talent of the chef Barnaby Jones. Then, memories and anecdotes arrived, sailors stories, by sailors for sailors.
