Waiting for Xarifa

Tonight (local time), the Panerai Transat Classique 2019 will know its first award laureate, the three masts schooner should cross the finish line in front of Christophe Harbour and win the Line Honours, a symbolic and prestigious award given to the winner on real time of a race. After more than 17 days of race, Diego Masso, the skipper and the 14 crewmen, which include the owner of this wonderful yacht built in 1927, are going to enjoy this unique and liberating moment.

A few hours later, Stiren, the winning yacht of the first edition in 2008, skippered by the Spanish sailor Alex Pella and owned by Oren Nataf, should win the second place, before those chasing after him. The final ranking will be confirmed with the arrival of Coch y Bondhu, still leader on corrected time, Hilaria and Eilean: like other recent great ocean races time differentials are going to be very tight.

Then it will be up to Lys, Glen Maël and Bryell II to be greeted with as much respect and admiration as the first ones, and to the brave crew of Aramis to be supported. In Christophe Harbour, the marina is set up to applaud exceptional performances of women and men engaged on the Panerai Transat Classique 2019. Days and nights will be filled up with laughs and songs in the Caribbean mildness.

Partner for the third time of the Transat Classic, the only transoceanic race for classic yachts, the well-known Italian watchmaker Panerai has created on the occasion the Luminor Regatta Transat Classique, a limited edition of 150 examples.

The history of Panerai has its roots in the immemorial alliance between time and sea. First models were created for the Italian navy’s divers and gradually the brand developed strong relationships with yachting lovers carried by shared values: solidarity, respect for traditions and quest for excellence.

The Luminor Regatta Transat Classique, created in only 150 examples, has an overall blue look set off by the solid brushed titanium case. With its countdown mechanism, very useful for the race start, the Luminor Transat Classique meets with navigator’s needs, with an easy use. The winding crown is protected by the traditional device of Panerai ensuring the watch’s water-resistance a depth of about 100 metres. An additional asset, as much as the power reserve of three days, making of this match the ideal partner for sailors.

On the back, the limited edition presents a delicate engraving reminding the race route, between Calero Marinas Marina Lanzarote and Christophe Harbour. Thanks to a prestigious knowledge of high standing sport watches, with the Luminor Regatta Transat Classique, Panerai manage to sublimate the alliance between elegance and technology.

SEA WORDS

Hilaria

« Bonjour. La nuit dernière, sous la lune et les étoiles, nous avons trouvé une super piste de danse et avons dansé des rocks and roll endiablés toute la nuit. L’équipage a des petits yeux ce matin, mais le mors entre les dents. (…) Tout va bien. »
