Xarifa, first boat to cross the finish line

Crossing the line in front of Christophe Harbour at 3h30’31” (07h30’31” UTC), Xarifa wins the line honours of the Panerai Transat Classique 2019. The 15 crewmen could shout out their joy. Diego Masso, captain to the 3 masts 1927  schooner shared his first impressions:

“The race was very tactical, with a very difficult choice to make from the start. We headed North to find more wind but the law pressure that we expected took more time to show up. When we finaly found some wind, our speed accelerated with top speed up to 15 knots. Everything went well, and the crew gave it his all. For gybing, we needed everybody on the deck. I will keep so many good memories of the race. For me, one of the best moment is when we caught a tuna; even those who thought we shouldn’t fish during the race not to slow the boat were suggesting recipes. The atmostphere was fantastic. We are very prode to arrive first in Christophe Harbour and we wish fair winds to all competitors for the end of the race.”
